Context

The Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS) has recently reorganised its product structure as part of its migration to the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE). This reorganisation is being carried out in phases and affects how CLMS data are structured and referenced, and consequently how they are made available on WEkEO.

Several CLMS datasets that were previously available as separate entries on WEkEO have been consolidated into a single unified dataset, the CLMS Bio-geophysical Parameters dataset (EO:JRC:DAT:CLMS), which is now available on WEkEO.

This change affects the following datasets that were previously available individually on WEkEO:

CLMS datasets now only available through CDSE

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LIE_250M_V1_DAILY_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LIE_250M_V2_DAILY_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LIE_500M_V1_DAILY_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LSWT_1KM_V1_10DAILY-NRT_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LSWT_1KM_V1_10DAILY-REPROC_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LWQ_100M_V1_10DAILY-NRT_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LWQ_100M_V2_10DAILY-NRT_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LWQ_1KM_V1_10DAILY-NRT_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LWQ_1KM_V1_10DAILY-REPROC_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LWQ_300M_V1_10DAILY-NRT_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LWQ_300M_V1_10DAILY-REPROC_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_LWQ_300M_V2_10DAILY-NRT_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_SCE_1KM_V1_DAILY_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_SCE_500M_V1_DAILY_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_SWE_5KM_V1_DAILY_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_SWE_5KM_V2_DAILY_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_WB_100M_V1_MONTHLY_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_WB_300M_V2_MONTHLY_NETCDF

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_WL_LAKES_V2_DAILY_GEOJSON

  • EO:CLMS:DAT:CLMS_GLOBAL_WL_RIVERS_V2_DAILY_GEOJSON

While this new dataset includes the products that were previously distributed individually on WEkEO, it also contains other CLMS Bio-geophysical Parameters, and therefore is not limited to the datasets listed below.

Retrieve data from the new CLMS Bio-geophysical Parameters dataset

Step 1: Identify your dataset

1. Go to the list of datasets available within the EO:JRC:DAT:CLMS collection in the CDSE Documentation.

2. Find your dataset of interest in the Dataset column.

  • Example: lst_global_5km_hourly_v2

3. Check the additional details provided in the table, such as:

  • Product Type: Land Surface Temperature

  • Time Coverage: 2021 - present

  • Spatial Coverage: Global

  • Resolution: 5km

  • Frequency: hourly

📌Note: For the example above, the important values are:

- Product Type: Vegetation Indices

- Dataset ID: ndvi_global_300m_10daily_v2

Step 2: Access the dataset in the WEkEO viewer

  1. The dataset is available in the WEkEO catalogue under the dataset ID: EO:JRC:DAT:CLMS.

You can open the WEkEO Viewer with CLMS datasets pre-loaded

  2. Enter lst_global_5km_hourly_v2 in the "Product Identifier" field and select Land Surface Temperature under "Product Type".

Additional parameters such as date, time range, and spatial extent (bounding box) can be added depending on the subset of data you wish to retrieve.

  3. Once all parameters are set, simply click on "Request data" and download the data directly from the WEkEO Viewer.

If you're not familiar with how to download data from WEkEO, you can follow this step-by-step guide.

💡WEkEO Pro Tip: In the WEkEO Viewer, you can click “Show API Request” to generate and copy a ready-to-use query for your script (Python, cURL, etc.).

New to this? Check our How to download data from WEkEO guide.

⚠️ The onboarding of CLMS datasets to the CDSE is in progress. Other datasets will follow, with similar effects on their access to WEkEO.
